Just wanted to put on record our huge thanks to everyone who made the annual summer tasting a fantastic success. Thanks to our suppliers who were magnificent – 10 of them each came to Whalley from all over the country to work on the Friday night of a Bank Holiday weekend – each bringing 10 of their finest wines for us all to taste, educating us with the information and notes on each of their wines. Thanks also to the venue, the Village Hall, it really is a good venue and an excellent facility to have in Whalley. Thanks also to our ‘star turn’ the Scotland and Blackburn Rovers legend Kevin Gallagher who’s interview with Tom and the Q& A session with the audience was very informative and entertaining. Thanks also to the Whalley Wine Shop team who not only manned the event but kept a very busy Friday night in the shop ticking over too. Well done Dan, Matt and Jen.
But most of all thanks to our customers for buying the tickets and coming along, all tickets were sold out and I’m sure we could have sold them twice over, the event is so popular. We hope you all had a great time, the anecdotal and twitter evidence suggests everyone left happy and contented with a nice smile on their faces! Thanks to all those customers who placed orders on the night and benefitted from some good offers and discounts.
For those who are interested the most purchased wines on the night were….
Wine No 33 – the Il Caggio Frascati 2011 from Italy, a dry white with subtle floral and citrus notes. £6.45
Wine No 58 – the Alamos Bonarda 2011 from Mendoza, Argentina, full of ripe red fruits with subtle hints of violets, anise and spicy black pepper. £8.95
Why not pop in and give them a try, and see what our customers are currently enjoying!
