Hello, we thought you might be interested in a few things happening at The Whalley Wine Shop…..California Wines Promotion ends Sunday – We’ve had great fun with our California Wines Promotion, and sadly it comes to an end on Sunday! So no more surfboards, no more American flags and no more Beach Boys music! If you want to see some pics of the promotion they are on this link… http://wp.me/pU22v-qJ

Blind Wine Challenge  - To finish off California Wines Month, and for a bit more fun we’re running a ‘blind wine challenge’ – We have 4 wines in our By The Glass machine covered up so you can’t see what they are. We’ll give you a multiple choice answer sheet, you give us £2 for the Movember charity box, you taste all 4 wines and if you get all the answers right we’ll give you £50 to spend in store. If you don’t win then you’ll have still tasted 4 very nice wines and given £2 to charity. Everyones a winner!!
And the other 4 wines in our By The Glass dispenser are also very nice too! You can come in and buy samples of the delicious Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay, the Murrietas Well ‘Whip’ White Blend, a Kendal Jackson Zinfandel, and the lovely Napa Cellars Merlot.
This Sunday is also…. ‘Sample Sunday’. Our suppliers regularly bring new wines in for us to taste and we’ve quite a few waiting to be tasted at the moment, so we’re asking our customers to do the ‘hard work’ for us. This Sunday we’re opening a dozen samples for you to try, and to get your feedback. Please come in on Sunday and try these wines, all for free.
Christmas Wine Tasting is Sold Out - Thanks to everyone who has bought tickets for our Christmas Wine tasting at Whalley Abbey on Dec 1st. We’ve now sold out. If you’ve reserved tickets, please could you come in and collect them before Mon 26th Nov, as all uncollected tickets will quickly be passed on to our waiting list. Thanks again for your fabulous support.
Movember – You might have seen that Matt and Tom have been growing their moustaches in support of the Movember Charity. They’ve been posting pics regularly on twitter and we’ve a collection box rapidly filling up on the counter. If you want to support this charity you can do it online or better still pop in and drop a few pennies in the box! If you want to see what Tom and Matt look like with their taches, they are in the Christmas issue of Live Ribble Valley magazine which you can see here… http://wp.me/pU22v-qn
And Finally – This Friday afternoon and evening our ‘Friday Freebie’ is the Napa Cellars Zinfandel ……if you’ve not tried Zinfandel, this is a nice one. Do pop in and have a try on us!

Welcome to Whalleywood! Last 4 days of California Wine Promotion.

Posted on Updated on

Yes, there’s just 4 days left of our California Promotion. We’ve had some great fun with it, the store has been decked out with USA bunting, USA and California Flags, and images of Uncle Sam. And we’ve had loads of sensational Californian Wines in-store, with all the wines in our ‘By The Glass’ machine being Californian. What’s more we have a fantastic offer on the go, 10% off any 6 Californian Wines (not already on offer). This is as well as having surfboards in the window, and Beach Boys music wafting in your ears!!

Here’s one or two pics…

Watch Come Dine With Me Tonight and you’ll see The Whalley Wine Shop!

Posted on

The competitive cooking show Come Dine With Me is back for a new series of dinner party action. Every week, five strangers take it in turns to throw a dinner party – and the best host wins a cash prize! This week the competitors are from East Lancashire and feature some of our customers!

If you watch the programme tonight (Weds) you’ll see it’s Chris’s turn to throw a dinner party, and during filming they shot some sequences at The Whalley Wine Shop. It’s on Channel 4 at 5.30pm. Or you can watch it later on Channel 4′s website 4OD playback facility. Here are some pics of the filming back in September.

Fantastic day at Clitheroe Food Festival

Posted on Updated on

We had a really enjoyable and successful day yesterday at the Clitheroe Food Festival. Lots of customers visiting our stand, very busy all day, and the rain managed to stay away, and best of all we sold out of all our stock! Thanks to everyone who came and said hello, we all had an excellent day!

We’re set to extend our selling area!

Posted on

Good day today as all parties gave us the go ahead to extend the selling space in the shop by  reclaiming an area that was being used for storage. This means we will be able to bring in more wines, strengthen some of the regions, bring in wines from new countries, and generally give our customers an even wider choice of excellent wines.

We’ll be making it happen as soon as is physically possible, so watch this space for details as soon as we firm up our ranges! Exciting stuff!

Tom.

This is the area that we will be extending.
