The King’s Ginger is a delicious liqueur specifically formulated by Berry Bros. in 1903 for King Edward VII. This rich and zesty tipple was commissioned by the Royal Physician to stimulate and revive His Majesty whilst exposed to the elements during morning rides in his new horseless carriage – a Daimler.
It has been appreciated by bon viveurs, sporting gentlemen and high-spirited ladies ever since!
The King’s Ginger is a high-strength liqueur (41%) created by the careful maceration of ginger root, enlivened by the judicious addition of citrus in the form of lemon oil for an unexpectedly fresh lift. It’s appearance is seductively golden. On the nose an instantly warming aroma of ginger, zesty lemon, sherbet and golden syrup. On the palate an initial sweetness followed by a bite of ginger and lemon tart. A deliciously satisfying and warming mouthfeel, with a lingering and extremely long lasting finish.
The King’s Ginger is available now at The Whalley Wine Shop for just £23.99.
